Big, Fat Failure

#1 Don't take this too seriously
#2 But, seriously, I am a big, fat failure.

Thankfully the Lord planned ahead.

The 2012 Olympic Games reminded me of my failure as an athlete.  I always wanted to be in the Olympics but laziness and a lack of determination took over.  Of course, a lot of kids dream of being an Olympian and never make it so I don't really feel too bad.  Plus, there's always Rio 2016! :)

I'm fairly smart...at least I always made good grades, but my contribution to our yearly household income probably averages in the negatives.  I'm a failed business woman.  I'm failing as we speak, but I'm okay with it.  My real full-time job just doesn't pay very well.

Speaking of that...parenting, I mean...according to Ted Tripp I'm pretty much a failure there too.  Also, okay.  My kids are still young, and I AM trying.

I've been a bad friend...selfish and lazy.  For that I am always sorry.

It can be very depressing being such a failure as I.  Here's my comfort:

Romans 8:28
28 And we know that [a]God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

2 Corinthians 12:9
9 And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

Lord willing, He can still use me...WILL still use me.  At this time my mission field is my family, and though the pay is bad, and I continue to fail everyday, God's grace is sufficient for me.  For that I praise Him.  Until the door opens for something else, something different, I will "be diligent to present [myself] approved" because I just can't ignore His Spirit's leading me to do so.  I hope that this is true for you too.

  1. Been there! I'm sure I will walk this road again at some point! We get up and move on! Doing great admitting you failed. Remember though, it was by your own standard and no one else probably noticed!

  2. Well...you sure do write a great blog post for being such a "failure." :p Thanks for being so open, Katie! I know we all feel like that on a regular basis, about something. Thanks for sharing the great encouragement through scripture! <3 Heidi Rew

  3. Hey friend. Love the blog. I know I have tried to start at least five businesses, but every time I come back to the call for my life from the Lord. I am reminded of the peace that would come every time I said , "I know Lord, this is all. I will teach and raise these wonderful people you have given me." Katie we can't fail doing what we are called to do even in the company of failure. Thank you that our Lord gives us that yucky feeling deep inside which tells us turn around and follow me. I am happy knowing we are walking similar roads. Your people are beautiful.

    1. Thanks for the encouragement. It is nice to know you can relate. I'm very thankful for that "yucky feeling" I get when I start to go the wrong way. I'm just constantly praying that I'll follow the Spirit's leading immediately and not talk myself out of it as I'm prone to do. Thankfully the Lord is merciful to me!
